Exploring Play through Creative Writing
Sat 28 Jan 2017 to Sat 28 Jan 2017
One day Orchard Foundation workshop co-facilitated by Fiona Hamilton and Kate Pawsey

Drawing on the workshop theme and providing a range of stimuli and prompts, we aim to provide a creative, stimulating and enjoyable learning experience through the medium of writing for well-being. This exploration takes place within a supportive environment and include sharing and reflection on the process in conversation.

This workshop is approached to some extent in a co-researching style with a strong experiential element. This makes it ideal for practitioners, facilitators and mentors to treat the day as ongoing professional development, as well as for personal, creative exploration and pleasure. It is open to all with an interest in creative writing, well-being and play and is delivered to the high standards of inclusiveness which both facilitators work to.

Fiona Hamilton’s recent writing entitled ‘Fractures’ is a collaboration responding to buildings and landscape. Other work has connected creative writing with dance and visual arts. She co-founded Orchard Foundation, teaches on the Metanoia MSc in creative writing for therapeutic purposes (CWTP) and facilitates people’s stories and reflections in a variety of settings.

Kate Pawsey's MSc research explored the value of play through creative writing in adulthood. She delivers group and individual workshops in CWTP, drawing on her experience of this study, in Bradford-on-Avon and West Wales.
