Ready to take your non-fiction project to the next phase? Outline in detail, develop and workshop your nonfiction writing with award-winning author Rebecca Giggs.
Non-fiction books can be found in many different shelving categories: history, politics, culture, travel, science, nature-writing, life-writing, sport. This course will be relevant to writers working on projects in any of these genres and looking to take their project to the next level.
In this course our focus is on the how of your project. How to conceptualise your ideas so that they can be meaningfully explored within the parameters of your chosen form – a book or longform piece of non-fiction writing. How to think creatively about research and bringing the voices of others into your writing, be that case-studies, life-stories and profiles, the opinions of experts, or via content sourced from archives (personal or public). How to structure your material – defining key terms, posing and revising questions, matters of pacing, and making use of a narrative arc.
