Fast Poetry (and how to fake it) with Sandy Wardrop
Wed 6 Sep 2023 to Wed 6 Sep 2023
We'd all love to boast Eminem's world speed-rapping record (97 words a minute!) - but talking that fast is too complex to learn in an afternoon, isn't it? Or is it? Join fast-talking poet and 'Mad Scientist of Words' Sandy Wardrop as he shares his own secrets to 'sounding speedy', through a mysterious (and often-overlooked) creative process called "cheating".
If you'd like to play around with rhythm, rhyme and tempo in your work - this is the workshop for you!
Sandy Wardrop is a poet, performer, and multi-disciplinary artist/facilitator based in Peterborough, UK. A self-proclaimed 'Mad Scientist of Words' Sandy specialises in colliding poetry with puzzles and games to create multi-sensory, interactive work that explores themes surrounding neurodiversity. As well as having won multiple poetry slams across the country, his experimental maze poem ‘It's Safe Here' went viral in 2019, gaining 16,000+ shares across the UK, USA, Australia and the Philippines.
