How do authors create stories that stay with readers long after the final page? In this live online workshop, author Sophie Jupillat Posey explores practical ways to strengthen emotional resonance through character, setting, voice and language. Open to writers across a wide range of genres, from fantasy and science fiction to mystery, romance, horror, historical fiction and beyond.
Readers may not remember every plot point or detail of a story, but they often remember how it made them feel.
In Finding Your Voice: Emotional Resonance in Genre Fiction, author Sophie Jupillat Posey will explore how writers can create stronger emotional connections between their stories and their readers.
Through discussion and practical exercises, participants will consider how character depth, setting, voice and language can work together to create stories that feel meaningful and emotionally authentic. The workshop will look beyond genre conventions to examine the emotional experience at the heart of a story, encouraging participants to consider what they want readers to feel and how the choices they make on the page can help create that response.
The workshop is designed to be accessible to writers working across genres, including fantasy, science fiction, romance, mystery, thriller, horror, historical fiction and other forms of genre fiction.
The session will be interactive and suitable for both developing and more experienced writers interested in deepening the emotional impact of their work.
