Get ready for The Big Edit Challenge
Mon 1 Jun 2026 to Fri 31 Jul 2026
The Novelry’s The Big Edit Challenge starts on Monday, June 1, and registration is open until Sunday, May 31. The new 9-week program is designed for writers who are ready to transform a draft novel into a polished manuscript. NAWE Member Discount available.
To develop it, The Novelry’s in-house team of book editors pooled their knowledge of working at the Big Five publishing houses and their experience of helping writers secure agent submissions.
The challenge complements The Big Edit and The Finished Novel courses with over 20 interactive workshops and expert-led study groups, a series on pitching with the chance to secure agent one-to-ones, and a brand-new line editing mini course. It guides writers through idea and story development to structural and line editing.
Highlights include:
• Charmaine Wilkerson—author of New York Times bestseller Black Cake—will be **in conversation with her editor to reveal how they shaped her debut into a Read with Jenna pick, a Barack Obama selection, and an instant bestseller that became an Oprah Winfrey series on Disney+
• editors from Penguin Random House and Hachette will explain how to achieve a strong editorial vision for your manuscript
• agents from WME, Sterling Lord Literistic, and Greene & Heaton will share what makes a submissions stand out and how to perfect your pitch
• a Pitch Party with the chance to receive constructive feedback from The Novelry’s editorial team and to win a session with a literary agent.
