Irish Writers' Centre: In the Flesh - Writing the Body with Elske Rahill (Online)
This is a highly interactive workshop in which participants examine how to create a living character, and how perspective and body inform voice.
The aim is to help fiction writers to root their characters in their various experiences, perspectives, bodies and environments, and explore the best register for their current work.
Throughout the course, participants will analyse different levels of narrative voice and the body in fiction, share and discuss their own work, and interrogate their knowledge about their own fictional characters and tap into instinctive, rather than prescriptive, character development.
Elske Rahill is an Irish novelist and short story writer. Her work includes the novels Between Dog and Wolf (2013, The Lilliput Press), An Unravelling (Head of Zeus and The Lilliput Press, 2019) and the short story collection In White Ink (2017).
