On 24 August – Ukrainian Independence Day – Linen Press will host a free online launch of Daoud Sarhandi's anthology of Ukrainian women's poetry, War-torn Voices.
Published by Linen Press in London, this anthology brings together the voices of twelve remarkable Ukrainian women poets whose words bear witness not only to war, but to love, memory, loss, endurance, and hope.
Six of the poets featured in the anthology will read their own work. For those who cannot be with us because of the realities of war, their poems will be given voice by volunteer poets from Britain and the United States.
This will be more than a book launch. It will be a celebration of poetry's enduring power to preserve humanity in the face of violence, and a tribute to the courage and creativity of Ukrainian women whose lives have been irrevocably changed by war.
Join us for this special evening of poetry, remembrance, and solidarity.
