Frankenstein’s monster, Hannibal Lector, Count Dracula... everyone knows their names and stories. This short course at Nottingham Trent University will walk you through a mini history of the monster in horror writing, before you create your own monster legend. This day is comprised of short lectures, group discussions and practical writing exercises.

On this course you will:

• define and understand what is meant by monster
• examine previous monsters and the impact they’ve had on the genre and industry
• understand the use of a monster from a marketing angle
• create a monster with a back story
• gain feedback on a short piece of your own.

The course is open to beginners as well as people with some writing experience looking for inspiration.
