Making it Funny with Nigel Planer and Sally Phillips
Sat 30 Jul 2016 to Sat 6 Aug 2016
Whichever medium you are writing in – prose, scripts, poetry, life-writing. Making it Funny can help you to get your voice heard - £75 discount for NAWE members if booked before May 31st 2016

A week-long course with group seminars and individual tutorials, Making it Funny will use creative exercises and editorial analysis to break down writing blocks and broaden your writing skills – or even just finally get you started. Be prepared to try new stuff as well as going over existing projects.

After running many successful workshops in places as different as the Arvon Foundation and the Actor’s centre, the National Opera Studio and the Institute of Group Analysis, Nigel Planer will try to cover all aspects of writing comedy, from creating funny characters, to structure, plotting, word order and dialogue. Everything in fact, except jokes. He’s a bit crap at them.

But luckily we are privileged to have as a special guest, Sally Phillips to go over any finer points that Nigel may have missed, such as “How NOT to pitch and write a screenplay.”
