Modern Poetry in Translation: Hungarian Translation Workshop
Sun 30 May 2021 to Sun 30 May 2021
To complement Modern Poetry in Translation’s spring issue, Clean Hands: Focus on the Pandemic in Europe, we are pleased to launch this online workshop sponsored by the European Cultural Foundation. Post your translations up by 30th May.

On our website you'll find a poem by the Hungarian poet Anna T Szabo, whose Selected Poems, Trust, is published by Arc in the UK this spring, co-translated by Anna with Clare Pollard.

A literal translation is provided on this page, along with notes. from the poet and translator Anna T. Szabó, to help you create a version of the piece in English.

We welcome all kinds of translation – versions which cleave to the original and render it as ‘faithfully’ as possible as well as ‘freer’ translations.

Please post your translations up by 30 May 2021, and Anna T Szabo will pick their favourite submissions to feature on the MPT website.
