Nottingham Writers' Studio: More-Than-Human Romance, a poetry workshop with Caleb Parkin
Join Caleb Parkin for this poetry workshop which offers a fresh take on Valentine's Day. Think nature, the planet, animals ... What's not to love?
In their Ecosexual Manifesto, Beth Stephens and Annie Sprinkle declare that, “The Earth is our lover. We are madly, passionately, and fiercely in love, and we are grateful for this relationship each and every day”.
We’ll enter into this workshop with this in mind: how can we celebrate our lover, the Earth, in how and what we write? How can we engage in a writing practice which celebrates our sensuous connections to the more-than-human?
Taking a queer and playful stance, we’ll explore ways to articulate our closeness to the furry, scaly, chlorophyll-filled, microscopic and even slimy fellow earthlings. We’ll celebrate the kaleidoscopic ways non-human animals express their desires.
Be inspired by poems by C A Conrad, Mary Oliver, Seán Hewitt and others, as well as museum artefacts, tree-hugging and a bit of (Isabella Rosselini’s) Green Porno.
