I will be running Poetry as Stewardship online from April 11th 2026 (Saturdays) for six weeks, including a special poet guest, Dean Browne.
To write a poem is to write into a void and to be sure of little or no financial reward. The writing of a poem exists outside of the time signature of 9-5, the monthly paycheck, and the grind. And in a world that is currently bloated with content and seething with argument, what an act of resistance it is, to make a small thing, for a small room, and not expect anything in return.
Week One (April 11th): Starting a Poem: Feeling over Fact
Week Two (April 18th): Growing a Poem: On Singularity
Week Three (April 25th): Employ your words (and Fire some too)
Week Four (May 2nd): White Space: The Power of Absence
Week Five (May 9th): Special Guest Poet, Dean Browne
Week Six (May 16th): Signing Your Voice: What Makes a Poem Yours
This course is about slowing down. This course is about reading great poems, trying to make great poems, and spending time with poetry and each other.
In the spirit of giving, and being cognisant of how challenging things are right now, I have subsidised each place, with this offering costing only €295. This includes six online meetings (all video recorded), all materials and access to an intentional and creative international community.
Dates: 11 April - 16 May 2026, 10am-11.30am Irish Standard Time
Location: Online
Cost: €295
