Poetry Workshops: The Structured Voice

Nii Ayikwei Parkes is running a poetry workshop series called The Structured Voice, which is based on his philosophy that Structure is your voice when you’re not present. This workshop is suitable for beginner as well as mid-career writers.

It is possible to take a one-week, four-week or six-week option on the workshops, which are broken down as follows:

• Week 1: The line
• Week 2: scenes/idea positioning
• Week 3: what a pause means
• Week 4: the possibilities of space
• Week 5: abstractions, linguistics, and creating your own form
• Week 6: cohort presentations and feedback

Format: Workshop with writing exercises, group discussions, private online sharing and feedback and readings in the final week

Dates: Wednesday evenings, April 9 - May 14 2025, 6:00-7:30pm GMT
