Reimagining the Elegy with Denise Saul
Mon 30 Mar 2026 to Mon 30 Mar 2026
Let the elegy surprise you. While it has long been associated with mourning and absence, the elegy resists being confined to a single emotional trajectory.

In this masterclass, TS Eliot-shortlisted poet Denise Saul invites us to move beyond traditional ideas of consolation and closure to examine how contemporary poets challenge the elegiac mode through formal experimentation, and engage with loss as ongoing, unresolved and complex.

We'll explore how poetry maps absence through fragmentation, erasure and other destabilising techniques. Experiment with what an elegy can be.
