The Manchester Writing School: Poetry in the Multilingual Classroom CPD evening
Thu 17 Jan 2019 to Thu 17 Jan 2019
Teachers, librarians and education managers: join us to explore how poetry can be used in schools to foster inter-cultural understanding and to facilitate greater creativity. Workshop leaders include our Mandy Coe, Sam Illingworth, Anjum Malik, Shirley May and Andrew McMillan.

Join us to explore how poetry can be used in schools, as stimulus and as a creative output, to foster inter-cultural understanding and to facilitate greater creativity both in and outside the curriculum.

Keynote presentations (5-6.30pm) will showcase successful poetry project models and panel discussion with teachers, pupils and parents will explore challenges faced in schools.
Via themed CPD sessions (6.30-7.30pm) on reading, writing and performing poetry in the multi-lingual classroom, participants will leave with concrete ideas, skills and resources.
The event will close with sharing of ideas at a plenary and an opportunity for additional networking. (7.30-8.30)

The ideas discussed will be of interest to teachers and librarians at all stages of their careers, from those just starting out to those in senior management positions. Discussion, ideas and resources will be relevant to those teaching all Key Stages and from other subjects than just English.
