The Stinging Fly Summer School 2021 (Online)

This year's summer school will take place online from 28 June to 2 July 2021 and consists of separate workshops in fiction, non-fiction and poetry aimed at writers who wish to develop their writing practice through engagement with groups of like-minded, similarly motivated individuals. Plus afternoon events. Apply by Friday 14th May.
Fiction Workshop group leaders: Wendy Erskine, Mia Gallagher and Sean O'Reilly.
Non-Fiction Workshop leader: Róisín Kiberd
Poetry Workshop leader: Nidhi Zak/Aria Eipe with guest facilitators each day
There will be no more than 6 participants in the fiction and non-fiction workshop groups and no more 8 participants in the poetry workshop group.
Workshop places will be offered based on work submitted. All submissions will be read by the workshop group leaders. Applications must be received by 11:59pm (GMT) on Friday May 14th.
Afternoon events:
These will take place between 2.30 and 3.45pm Monday to Friday. They will include close-reading seminars, a debut author panel discussion, and a talk plus Q&A with the editors of The Stinging Fly. Attendance at the afternoon events is encouraged but not essential. There will be a closing event for everyone on Friday evening at 6pm.
Fees:
The tuition fee for each workshop is €250. The concession rate for anyone on low income is €200. One free place available on each workshop.

The Stinging Fly Magazine was established in 1997 to seek out, publish and promote the very best new Irish and international writing. We believe that there is a need for a magazine that, first and foremost, gives new and emerging writers an opportunity to get their work out into the world. We are particularly concerned to provide an outlet for short story writers.
