The Writers’ Block: 'Creating Convincing Worlds' with novelist Wyl Menmuir
Thu 13 Jun 2019 to Thu 13 Jun 2019
Whether you’re writing a memoir, a sci-fi epic or the next literary classic, whether it’s set in the past, present or future, your fictional world will need to convince your reader completely.

We’ll explore creating settings from life experience, researching and building settings, and delve into the balance between place, time, mood and context. By the end of the session, you’ll have begun work on a vivid fictional world (or several vivid fictional worlds!) in which your story can soar.

Wyl Menmuir was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize for his debut novel, The Many. As well as novels, he writes short stories and journalism, and teaches creative writing at Falmouth University.
