Join us in the Back Room at The Lescar pub for a night of Halloween fun, including a suitably strange spoken-word performance, a spooky literary quiz, and a chance to dance to scary-good tunes. Costumery not required but strongly encouraged! The best dressed will be rewarded.

Weird Words Contest
Are you a writer or poet? Why not enter our contest for a change to perform on the night! Three finalists will be invited to read at the party (3 mins each). Winner, chosen by our performer, receives a 'contest winner' badge to share on their socials. The piece will also be published via our newsletter/website (with permission). Finalists have their ticket cost reimbursed!

Guidelines:
1. The entry must address the theme of 'Weird' somehow (interpret this how you please!)
2. Maximum reading time of 3 mins.
3. It must be entirely your own work (please, no plagiarism or AI!)
4. Deadline is midnight October 21, 2025
5. Previously published/performed material is accepted (as long as you have full rights or the permission from the publisher)
6. Only entries emailed to lorna@thewritersworkshop.co.uk will be considered. Finalists chosen anonymously.
