The Writer’s Compass presents an action-packed day of workshops and panel sessions for graduates of Scotland’s Creative Writing Masters and PhD programmes and early career professional writers. Presented in partnership with CCA, Glasgow Life, Gutter and Scottish Book Trust, with funding from Creative Scotland.

Then Turning the Next Page is for you!

Join us for an action-packed day of workshops and panel sessions ending with drinks and socialising.

Hear from fellow writers about the different kinds of writing lives they lead, and get inspiration and guidance for your own career.

Explore how you can diversify and use your creative writing skills to boost your income through running creative writing workshops, freelance journalism and writing for business.

Learn how to promote yourself and your work – and have some fun at the same time!

Discuss the realities of being published and produced today with a panel of industry experts.

Connect up with other writers at a similar stage and share ideas and experiences.

Reflect on your goals as a writer and the skills you need to build and sustain a career in writing.

Be inspired to start planning your next steps – there’ll be lots of practical information and advice on the day and a comprehensive resource pack to take away.

Speakers lined up to date include writers Drew Campbell, Linda Cracknell, Fiona Gibson, Jules Horne, Nicola McCartney, Stephen Potts, Sara Sheridan and JL Williams plus Jemima Levick, Associate Director at Dundee Rep, bookselling expert Eleanor Logan, Maggie McKernan of The McKernan Literary Agency and Writing Room Consultancy, and Jenny Todd, Sales and Marketing Director at Canongate Books.

Turning the Next Page is presented by The Writer’s Compass (NAWE) in partnership with CCA, Glasgow Life, Gutter and Scottish Book Trust and funded by Creative Scotland.

It is part of a programme of work being undertaken by Creative Scotland and literature and other organizations in Scotland to support writers living and working in Scotland who have studied Creative Writing at university or are at an early stage of their careers.
