Verse Aid: Poems for the Earth

On Saturday 8th February 2020, Poets for the Planet are launching – and in style! In collaboration with The Society of Authors, we are delighted to present Verse Aid: Poems for the Earth, an awareness-raising, fundraising, spirit-raising poetry event, featuring an all-day Poem-a-Thon, alongside a series of eco-themed workshops and other attractions. In the evening, there will be a starry poetry gala, with readings from some of the UK’s leading poets.
Poets for the Planet is a community of kindred poets, performers, artists and creative activists raising their voices to engage with climate and ecological emergency through poetry in all its forms.
From 11am – 6pm on the 8th February, we are running eco-themed micro workshops half-hourly (details below) alongside a drop-in, free to attend Poem-a-Thon where a relay of sponsored poets will perform poems themed around climate change. Book your workshop/s via Eventbrite here
Then, from 7 – 9pm, we hope you’ll join us for our ticketed Gala event, featuring Imtiaz Dharker, Hannah Lowe, Mona Arshi and Jacqueline Saphra. Tickets £20/£10 concessions available to buy via Eventbrite here.
