WEA: Facilitating Writing for Wellbeing groups - an introduction with Elizabeth Sarkany
Are you interested in the benefits of Writing for Wellbeing? Would you like to explore some of the issues around becoming a practitioner in this area?
The WEA is an adult education charity founded in 1903. One of its very experienced Writing for Wellbeing tutors, Elizabeth Sarkany, has created a short, introductory course to look at some of the research and policy context of this field, the possibilities it presents and ways of working and keeping things safe.
Elizabeth has facilitated Writing for Wellbeing groups in a wide range of settings over many years and is particularly experienced in working with people who identify as being in mental distress. Prior to her work in this area, she spent twenty years as an NHS doctor, specialising in child and adolescent psychiatry. She also has a Masters in Creative Writing, PTLLS level 4 and attended level 2 of the Orchard Foundation professional development course: creative writing for therapeutic purposes.
This course is a step towards further training and will be helpful if you are hoping to set up your own local group or work with another organisation. (Course ref: C2422460)
