Celebrating 60 years of working with writers to produce outstanding theatre for young audiences, Theatre Centre hosts a conference for writers and theatre professionals.
 
Do you write plays for young audiences, or do you want to? Join us at Write Lines, where you’ll be part of the debate around new writing for young people and meet industry professionals at our one-off, one day event.
 
**JUST ANNOUNCED*** The Write Lines keynote speech will be delivered by esteemed playwright Bryony Lavery.

The day's events will feature:

  • Purni Morell (Artistic Director at the Unicorn Theatre)
  • Philip Osment (playwright / director)
  • Evan Placey (playwright)
  • Natalie Wilson (Artistic Director of Theatre Centre)
Breakout sessions:
 
The day will comprise a keynote speech and response, two breakout sessions (morning and afternoon), lunch, a showcase performance of three new plays, a plenary session and panel debate, and networking drinks.
 
Delegates have the opportunity to attend two of three available breakout sessions (you will be asked to select your preference at the time of booking), these are as follows:
  • Throw your pen out the window! A workshop on how to use creativity from other art forms to write plays for young people. Led by playwright Rob Evans
  • Adaptation for young audiences. Led by Amanda Dalton (Associate Director of Education for the Royal Exchange Theatre)
  • Collaborating with young people to create theatre. Led by Philip Osment, the playwright behind WHOLE (20 Stories High)
