Write Stories for children! A one-day course in Hastings

Join The Guardian Masterclass and Penguin Random House tutor Alan Durant, award-winning author of over one hundred children’s books, including Burger Boy, Always and Forever, Dear Father Christmas, Game Boy and Clownfish, on a one-day course on writing stories for children at his house in Hastings from 10am – 4.30pm on Saturday 1 August 2026.
It doesn’t matter whether you’ve written a little or a lot, or whether your interest is in picture books, middle grade or young adult fiction, this course will have something for you!
Through discussion, writing activities, information and advice, the day will offer an interactive and fun insight into the world of writing for children and its particular demands, delights and opportunities.
The cost of the day is just £50 with lunch and lashings of tea, coffee and biscuits.
