Write Your Novel with WriteClub (Online)
Tue 7 Sep 2021 to Tue 23 Nov 2021
This real-time online course is designed to support you as you write your novel. Whether you're at the initial ideas stage, or you already have a manuscript draft underway, regular workshops on craft, quality critique, weekly deadlines and the support of your fellow writers are here to help keep you on track.

Unlike many other writing courses, WriteClub offers real-time online sessions where you will feel part of a team, working towards a common goal. The Write Your Novel course is divided into three 12-week parts so you can choose to commit to each part separately.

Week A = Under the Bonnet - workshop on craft
Week B = Feedback on your work with a small committed critique group
2 x 30 min 1-1 mentoring sessions with Alison Powell

This is an online course delivered using Zoom, Google folders and Slack. You will need access to a steady internet connection.

Under the bonnet sessions:
• Staying focused - How to prioritise your writing
• What story are you writing? - Seven basic plots
• Psychic distance - How close are you to the action
• Character archetypes - Who's on your team?
• Meanwhile... - writing the B story
• Experiments with form and making more of your story

Alison Powell supports new and established writers with their creative work. Having worked as a teacher and an education consultant for many years, she set up WriteClub in 2016 and has since run regular workshops on all aspects of the writing craft.

"A great way to keep yourself motivated to write, partly because of the fixed deadlines and partly because of all the lovely encouragement and helpful suggestions for how to improve your work. Very helpful indeed!" - Christine, teacher
"...it's the best money I've spent on any writing-related course. I've learnt more about writing doing this than anything else." - Priyesh, writer
