Have you always wondered what it’s like to write a novel? Do you have an idea that you dream of turning into a book one day? Are you ready to write your first novel now?
This 8-week course is for committed, aspiring writers, people stuck with writer's block and anyone in the process of starting or finishing their first novel.

During eight sessions from April 2026 until the end of June 2026, you’ll gain the essential skills you need to finish your first novel, from start to finish. You'll also explore how to make a writing career sustainable, gain industry insights, and use writing prompts alongside handouts for you to practice during your spare time.

You’ll learn:
• How to write regardless of whether you get inspired
• How to create engaging, complex and unforgettable characters
• How to use story structure to shape your story
• How to turn your first novel into a professional writing career

Learn from your tutor’s years of expertise as well as the other writers attending, in one of the most important places for the LGBTQ+ community in London.

Each session will consist of quick writing prompts to get inspiration, analysing novels to understand the writing principles used, workshopping your writing, and exploring technical writing tools.

In a holistic, nurturing and supportive environment, you’ll learn new creative skills, thrive and use the power of writing to tell your own stories that matter to you. You’ll be supported by your tutor and your writing peers. The London LGBTQ+ Community Centre's extensive queer library will also be an invaluable resource. All students will be invited to share part of their work at the end of the course.

In order for this course to be accessible, there are 10 spots at a heavily discounted price - so register fast.

We encourage QTIBPOC folks to register, but the course is open to everyone in the LGBTQ+ community
