Whether you’re taking up poetry for the first time and want to get off on the right foot, or you’ve already started but could do with extra support - this twelve week course is for you
Where do poems begin? How can we make language sing? Whether you're new to writing poems or have dabbled in the past, join prize-winning poet Liz Berry on a journey into the transformative world of poetry. You'll read inspiring poets, explore how poems take shape, and begin to create and share your own work with a friendly supportive group.
Led by Liz Berry, this twelve-week course will help you get to grips with key elements of writing poetry, from imagery and metaphor to how the poem looks on the page and sounds to the ear. You’ll learn how to explore the power of language and as a result, begin to develop your own voice.
You will benefit from one-to-one feedback throughout the course and you’ll be encouraged to share your learning and ideas with fellow classmates via the online discussion forum. By working on set exercises and completing assignments, you’ll gain a basic understanding of poetic form and feel confident about writing poetry.
Your efforts will be rewarded with a Certificate of Completion from the University of East Anglia and Writers' Centre Norwich.
