Writing Stories for Children: Crafting Your Story Online Workshop Course with Alan Durant
Thu 7 Mar 2024 to Thu 25 Apr 2024
This online course runs for 8 weeks from 7 March to 25 April 2024 through weekly 2-hour Zoom workshops in which participants share short sections of their writing and receive feedback from the group and from me. It’s ideal for developing work in progress.

If you’ve done my online writing course – or any of my other courses on writing for children (or need some support with a manuscript you’re working on) – and feel that that you want to move your writing onto the next level, by using the techniques and skills that you’ve learnt to develop a continuous narrative, then this is the course for you.

It’s the perfect opportunity to take forward a piece (or pieces) of writing for children (from picture books to YA fiction) you’re currently working on. I’m the award-wining author of over a hundred books for children of all ages (from Burger Boy, Quill Soup and Dear Tooth Fairy to Game Boy and Clownfish), so I can offer pertinent and informed advice on whatever you’re writing. But this is about hearing back from multiple informed readers, not just me.

As well as participation in the workshops, each participant will also receive one half hour one-to-one tutorial over the duration of the course as far as is possible at a time of their choosing (in recognition of the fact that participants will need input at different points in their story development).

It’s a small supportive group – a maximum of 12 people – and everyone who has taken it so far has found it rewarding and useful (most people have taken it on two or more occasions).

The next course starts on Thursday 7 March at 7pm (BST) and the fee is £150. You can pay by PayPal or online. Email me at to book a place.
