All the in-person workshops will take place at the Writing West Midlands offices at Zellig building, Custard Factory complex, Gibb Street, Birmingham.
3-hour workshop: Writing a Synopsis
Saturday 5 March 2022, 10am - 1pm, Writing West Midlands offices, Birmingham, £45
You’ll learn what the purpose of the synopsis is, how it is read within publishing, how to structure your synopsis, what to include and what to leave out, and how to pick out the most important parts of your story.
5-hour workshop: Starting to Write
Saturday 12 March 2022, 10am - 4pm (with 1 hour for lunch - lunch not included), Writing West Midlands offices, Birmingham, £75
A one-day workshop on both the creative and the practical aspects of writing novels, short stories and scripts. You’ll create characters, plan plots and discuss dialogue.
3-hour workshop: Public Funding for Creative Writers with Jonathan Davidson
Saturday 19 March 2022, 10am - 1pm, Writing West Midlands offices, Birmingham, £45
This course will look at what types of writing projects might attract public and private funding and how to make a good application. It will focus on funding from Arts Council England through their Lottery Project Grants scheme and their Developing Your Creative Practice scheme.
