Join the authors of How to be a Poet (a new poetry handbook and manifesto for good writing) for a day-workshop focused on improving, challenging and developing your poems and finding the best approaches for getting them into print.

Designed to help you take your poetry practice up a gear, this day will consist of two workshop sessions. Jo Bell will lead a masterclass in Ruthless Redrafting – learn how to generate new work, refine and troubleshoot your poems and explore techniques for effective redrafting in order to get your poems into the best shape possible. Jane Commane will provide a crash-course on getting your poetry published, with a behind-the-scenes look at the editor’s view of the submissions process, giving tips, hints and advice on how to get your poems ready for publication.

Please bring two copies of one of your own poems for redrafting as part of workshop.

Date: Saturday, 4 November, 10am-4pm, with a break for lunch
Location: Birmingham and Midland Institute
Cost: £45 (Lunch is not provided but there is a cafe onsite and many other places to buy food nearby.)
