Zoom Poetry Workshop – Saying it Slant/Voicing the Unsaid with Sue Burge and guest poet Heidi Williamson
Wed 21 Jul 2021 to Wed 21 Jul 2021
This workshop will explore different ways of expressing experiences which we feel compelled to write about but, at the same time, we don't want to expose our vulnerabilities too directly.

How do we create a safe space for ourselves and our readers when writing about potentially difficult subjects? Often the most effective and powerful poetry comes from a place of passion, lived experience and deep emotion.

The workshop will include a visit by guest poet Heidi Williamson who will talk about the process of writing Return by Minor Road (Bloodaxe 2020). This, her subtle and moving third collection, is about being part of a Scottish community that suffered an inconceivable tragedy, the Dunblane Primary School shooting, while at the same time discovering the healing properties of a beloved place that helped form her.
