The Scottish Arts Trust is delighted to announce a new additional award to encourage more writers in Scotland to explore flash fiction. The Golden Hare Award is an annual £300 prize open to anyone over 18 years who is resident in Scotland.
To apply, entrants should submit stories on any topic up to 250 words to the Edinburgh International Flash Fiction Award (EIFFA)
The EIFFA is open to writers worldwide and carries a first prize of £600, second prize £300 and third prize £150.
The winner of the Golden Hare, and all EIFFA finalists will be given a dedicated page on the Story Awards website to promote their writing.
All finalists including the Golden Hare nominees will be published in our next anthology (to be published late 2020). Publication in the anthology will also be offered to the authors of stories that are long-listed for the award.
The Scottish Arts Club will present one year free membership of the club to the main prizewinners.
The Chief Judge of the EIFFA is award-winning poet and novelist Sandra Ireland.
For writers living in Scotland, the entry fee of £6 per story covers entry for the EIFFA and the Golden Hare Award. Writers may enter as many times as they wish. All proceeds are used to support the arts in Scotland.
