Faber Academy is looking for an organised and motivated person with a demonstrable interest in creative writing to join us as our new Academy Assistant. The successful candidate will be ensuring the smooth running of the Academy.
Faber Academy is a busy and expanding creative writing school based within the prestigious independent publisher Faber. With courses currently taking place in London, Newcastle and online on our bespoke Learning Management System, as well as mentoring and manuscript assessment programmes, we have helped over ten thousand aspiring authors along their writing journeys.
This is a varied, hands-on role: you will be making coffee, setting up webinars, chatting to Academy students about their writing. You will know how to make writers feel at home and will be able to work independently to ensure that every student has an excellent experience. You will have some experience of working in a customer-facing role, either in retail or in hospitality, and you will need to be confident taking phone calls and answering customer enquiries from the outset. You will also have an interest in books and writing, and ideally some empathy with the travails of being an aspiring writer.
We're a small team and our work is different every day, so you will need to be flexible, motivated and creative in how you approach the role.
The role is permanent, full time (35 hours a week) and based in our London office, with some evening and weekend shifts required.
