Artist in Residence x 4, LGBT Foundation & House Proud & GMCA
Deadline: Mon 16 Dec 2019
Greater Manchester Combined Authority, House Proud and the LGBT Foundation are working together to explore the lack of LGBT visibility in retirement schemes and care settings.
We are looking for four artists, makers or creative practitioners from any art form including photography, film, installation, written word and performance to deliver individual artist residencies in 4 retirement schemes and to work with both staff and residents to explore this topic with a view to opening up creative arts practice to the residents and co-produce a response to the theme.
Many LGBTQ residents feel unable to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity to staff and other residents and this project will look at reasons for this, the impact on residents, staff and visitors and the positive changes that could be made to increase diversity in these settings.
Each artist will take up residence in a scheme for the equivalent of 10 days over a two-month period. The exact time frame will be decided between staff, residents and the selected artist at each site to make sure it is the best fit for all.
A budget of £2,500 is available for each residency and includes the artist fee and materials.
