Artist Opportunities, CANOPY
Deadline: Fri 30 Aug 2019
We are looking for eight artists/creatives/groups/performers from any discipline to become involved in an exciting project developing artworks/experiences for telephone boxes for a public event in 2020.

For this stage, Phase 1, we wish to contract eight creatives/groups to work closely with Community Groups in the vicinity of the 14 phone boxes along a roadside trail on the Forest of Dean. By doing so, the artists gain local knowledge to inform their own proposals for Phase 2.

Funding is secured for Phase 1 and the selected artists will form a consortium to raise funding for Phase 2, supported by CANOPY Project Manager/Producer, Carolyn Black, and the team.

This is an unusual approach to creating a 'weekender' that is grounded in community engagement and will result in a trail of public activities/events for all to enjoy.

Due to the nature of the research phase and the need for CANOPY to conduct action research, to understand better the cultural offer in the Forest of Dean, preference will be given to applications from those who work/live within reasonable travelling distance of the area.

Phase 1 pays the artists to run workshops with Community Groups including a fixed sum for travel and materials.
