Newcastle Arts Team would like to recruit several professional artists to engage local people on our 2020/21 Residency Programme including two artists for our six-month residency Intergenerational Words & Worlds.
We are particularly interested to hear back from Black, Asian, Minority Ethic artists; artists who are willing to take risks and explore themes during challenging times; artists who can clearly demonstrate their ability to build strong relationships, mainly through on-line delivery and virtual engagement due to COVID:19; and artists who will ensure that the artwork created is of the highest standard and is relevant to project participants and audiences.
Residency One – Benfield School
Working in partnership with Benfield School we are keen to set up a 6-month residency to explore and train young people in performance and vocal skills.
Residency Two – Intergenerational Words & Worlds
For this six-month residency, we are keen to hear from artists who work with words and stories. We want this project to reach out and engage identified individuals from four separate groups:
Elders Council – Adults 50+
Youth Justice Service – Young people 10 -18 years
Your Homes Newcastle – young people 16+ in supported accommodation
Newcastle Treatment and Recovery Team – Adults 18+ in recovery
in a variety of creative ways that will sustain their interest over the residency period. For some this may be via telephone call, letter writing, or social media. For others, it may be by visiting them in their local park or front garden.
Please email : alison.flanaganwood@newcastle.gov.uk for an Artist Brief which will explain in more detail the residencies.
Deadline: 27 August 2020
