Artist Residency: The Hermitage, Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral
Deadline: Thu 31 May 2018
With the generous support of Arts Council England, Portsmouth Cathedral is offering a unique residency opportunity, which we’ve named ‘The Hermitage’. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to spend an extended period of time in a special Cathedral location which is not normally open to the public, exploring the theme of Time in a secluded and isolated environment. Applications from creative writers welcomed.
Each year the Cathedral has an annual theme programme, which shapes our outreach and community engagement events. For 2018 the theme is Time. During the year we are offering a range of lectures, events, exhibitions and film screenings and this artist residency is part of that programme.
We want the artist to reflect and respond to questions about Time: how does it feel to be in the middle of a busy city, yet removed from it all? How might your work reflect your awareness of time and how time passes in such a space? How does the building itself, with all its history, affect your perception of time and how could you represent this through your chosen medium?
A briefing paper is available with full details of the fee, budget and application process.
Please email Sharon Court: sharon.court@gmail.com with the subject line: Hermitage Enquiry and information will be sent to you.
Deadline: 5pm, 31 May 2018.
No submissions will be considered after this time.
