Associate Professor in Creative Writing, De Montfort University
Deadline: Sun 10 Nov 2019
De Montfort University (DMU) is an ambitious, globally-minded institution with a relentless focus on delivering quality teaching and learning, and a campus-wide focus on providing a sector-leading student experience. We are seeking to appoint a Permanent Associate Professor in Creative Writing.

The new School of Humanities and Performing Arts sits within the Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities and includes History, Creative Writing, English Language, English Literature, Modern Languages, Performing Arts, Dance, Drama, and Arts and Festival Management. The school is home to approximately 1170 students at undergraduate and post-graduate level.

You should be a creative writer with an established publication profile, and an experienced teacher in HE with some experience of academic leadership. You will be expected to lead the development and teaching of our lively and innovative creative writing programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

You will be sympathetic to experimentation, willing to teach outside your areas of expertise, and interested in a range of forms and genres.

Knowledge and experience of the contemporary writing industry, fiction and/or script, comics or digital writing would be a significant advantage.

You will be expected to take on a leadership role shortly after taking up your post, and to play a significant role in determining the future direction of the subject.

You will lead and contribute to modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the supervision of portfolios, and assume administrative and pastoral responsibilities.

You will be expected to make a significant contribution to the research activities of the Leicester Centre for Creative Writing, including REF2021.
