Write Across Liverpool is an eight-week development programme designed to offer Liverpool-based writers and creatives at the start of their writing careers an insight into writing for television and support them in the creation of an original series idea.
This professional development programme is led by the BBC Writersroom in collaboration with partner organisations Liverpool Film Office, Everyman and Playhouse Theatres, Liverpool’s Royal Court, Unity Theatre, Writing on the Wall, 20 Stories High and DaDa.
Selected writers will take part in a range of craft and industry sessions designed to help grow their professional skills, cover the foundations of storytelling for the screen and demystify the process of writing for television.
During the Write Across programme all participants will be supported to define and develop an original idea for a drama series to pitch stage. Given the specific remit of this programme it will not be suitable for writers who already have a TV credit.
Up to 15 writers will be invited to take part in the programme which will run between May and June 2022 and will be primarily delivered over Zoom with some in-person sessions and workshops in Liverpool.
The programme is free to attend for successful applicants and we will cover all reasonable travel costs as necessary.
Who are we looking for?
We want to find the next wave of exciting, diverse and passionate storytellers from Liverpool. Writers should be over the age of 18 and currently live full-time in the Liverpool City region.
