Applications are now open for Clydebuilt 18, a free year-long programme that offers emerging poets the chance to work with an experienced mentor and develop a portfolio of new work.
Facilitated by St Mungo’s Mirrorball, Clydebuilt provides intensive support to poets at an early stage of their writing careers, encouraging a greater dialogue between them and more experienced practitioners. Past mentors have included poets such as Niall Campbell, John Glenday, and Miriam Gamble.
Up to 4 poets will be selected to take part in Clydebuilt 18. They will be mentored by an experienced poet-tutor over 12 months (September 2025–2026) through a series of group tutorials and one-to-one sessions (in person and online). The participants will develop a portfolio of poems and give a reading of some of their resulting work at a dedicated St Mungo’s Mirrorball event.
To be eligible to apply, you must:
• be living in Scotland
• not be enrolled in a writing course or be receiving any structured writing support as of September 2025
• not have published a full-length poetry collection
• be able to travel to Glasgow or another Central Belt location for some meetings/events.
