outside it is beautiful is seeking a writing facilitator and editor to work with our writing producer from 1 October 2024 in the Bentham, Settle/Giggleswick area in Yorkshire Dales for a community audio stories project set on the Bentham Train Line.
This job is for the research & development phase of the project and is open to professional writers/and or writing facilitators in the Yorkshire Dales and Lancashire areas. We especially welcome applications from anyone with knowledge of the Bentham train route/Trough of Bowland/ Lancashire/North Yorkshire/Leeds and its surrounding areas.
We want to encourage writers/facilitators who are underrepresented and especially in nature/heritage/environmental writing to apply and those who have an interest in developing the project to roll out across the whole of the line (Leeds/Morecambe/Lancaster) in 2025.
outside it is beautiful aims to connect invisible communities and unknown landscapes with invisible train passengers on the Bentham Line via the power of stories written by the communities who live there. Stories will pinged onto passengers phones as they travel the line.
The co-facilitator will co-run writing workshops with our lead writer Sarah Hehir and will work with her to edit the final pieces for the phone app. They will also help take part in research in the area before the workshops begin.
Please note the project is dependent on the outcome of funding applications.
FEE: £3,400. for 13 days (£200 per day for research, editing, evening online workshop, £300 for day workshop online) There is an additional budget to cover travel and subsistence costs.
