Commission: Sounds of Silence, Aerial Festival

Aerial, in partnership with Great Place: Lakes and Dales, are offering 2 X £1k commissions for artists working with sound and living in Cumbria or Yorkshire Dales, or with a strong link to either.
We are interested in exploring how the area has changed during lockdown and what changes, if any, should be kept. Is this a time to imagine a new way of living? Or do we want the new normal to be the old normal?
We are looking to commission a piece of audio designed to sonically transport the listener to the Lakes in lieu of visiting the Lake District this summer.
The piece could be soundscape, a score, spoken word, field recordings or a mash up of anything and everything. The duration of the piece could accompany some or all of the current (at time of writing) one hour government-sanctioned exercise time, or be self-generating to act as a continuous soundtrack for all eternity. It's up to you.
Deadline: In order to be considered for the commission, please send no more than 250 words outlining your idea for the piece, and examples of previous work, to aerialfestival@gmail.com by 2pm, Sunday 31st May 2020.
