Creative Community Activist, East Durham Creates

East Durham Trust (on behalf of the Consortium) is seeking to recruit a Creative Community Activist to support the Creative People and Places (CPP) project ‘East Durham Creates’ as it expands into the wider county.

The successful candidate will work closely with the delivery team as part of the project and wider East Durham Trust team in the implementation of strategies aimed at engaging local people in arts and culture. They should be motivated, passionate and responsive to change with a clear background in socially engaged art and/or community engagement in a VCS setting.

The ideal applicant will have:

An affinity for working directly with people in a range of community settings, in communities like those in County Durham
An ability to facilitate front facing community empowerment and shared decision-making
A passion for social change and the role that arts and culture can play in this
An understanding and/or willingness to learn about the power of integrating arts and culture into non-arts people, places, spaces and organisations.

Hours: 30 hours a week
Salary: £25,000 pro-rata
Duration: Fixed term until March 2025
