Creative Practitioners (2), RHS Garden Wisley
Deadline: Tue 5 Jul 2022
The RHS is looking to commission 2 experienced freelance creative practitioners to support and contribute to the Gardens of Imagination co-production team. The team will deliver Gardens of Imagination, a Young Curator and Community Curator programme.

The programme will work towards the RHS Sustainability Strategy driving principles by opening up new stories and interpretive experiences at RHS Garden Wisley (Wisley).

We are looking for people with proven experience of working collaboratively with and giving a voice to young people aged 13-16 and or people from community groups.

The RHS, creative practitioners, local communities and young people will work together as consultants and participants across a range of activities including consultations, workshops, and digital engagement. The power of RHS historic collections and living plant collections will be used to expand imagination, convey voices and will include creative activity with participants. The 12-month programme will culminate in a final 3 month exhibition in the Wisley Old Laboratory Exhibition Gallery with additional activity to elevate the programme and sustainability activism during the exhibition period.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) believes that collectively the actions of each and every one of our nation’s 30 million gardeners and the general public can create change and help mitigate the climate and biodiversity crisis and tackle some of our biggest social concerns, including loneliness, obesity and mental health.

The RHS will support young people and people in our communities to develop an experience of stories, creativity and activism based around our historic collections and scientific research. The experience will ignite the public’s interest in horticultural sustainability and challenge people to make change with us.
