Creative Practitioners, Bradford's National Museum Project (National Science and Media Museum & University of Leeds)

We are looking for creative practitioners to work collaboratively with members of the National Science and Media Museum as well as community stakeholders and researchers on a Spring 2019 exhibition. We encourage applications from practitioners working in all mediums including illustration, sound design, videography, zine making and beyond and are particularly keen to hear from people living or working in the Bradford Metropolitan District.
The exhibition will look at how different communities in Bradford have taken control of their own reality by bypassing national and mainstream media, using local-to-local alternative distribution networks and adapting or re-purposing available technologies to record their own histories and create their own cultural spheres.
As part of the exhibition, we will be looking at photography, community radio stations, soundscapes in mosques and activist publications (amongst many other examples) using objects and stories from Bradford as well as from the museum’s collection.
Creative practitioners will receive a fee of £2000 for an anticipated 10 days of work. All production costs for proposed exhibits will be considered separately to this fee.
