East Riding Libraries are seeking a passionate local poet to take on the honorary role of East Riding Poet Laureate. The East Riding Poet Laureate will promote poetry and act as an ambassador for the East Riding of Yorkshire and the Library Service.

East Riding Libraries are seeking a passionate local poet to take on the honorary role of East Riding Poet Laureate. The East Riding Poet Laureate will promote poetry and act as an ambassador for the East Riding of Yorkshire and the Library Service.

Applicants must be based local to the East Riding of Yorkshire. Applicants do not have to be a published poet.

The role will support the development of a local writer and provide paid opportunities to write new commissions and publish a collection of their work. The role will also deliver events and activities to engage local people with workshops and performances.

The role of East Riding Poet Laureate is currently held by Cassandra Parkin. The new post holder will be the second East Riding Poet Laureate and will take over the role in April 2026.

Fee: £3,300 (includes travel and any other expenses)
