Education Trainee, Wordsworth Trust
Deadline: Mon 16 Jul 2018
The Wordsworth Trust has been providing training opportunities for people starting careers in museums, libraries and literature for over 30 years, and has a high reputation across the sector for the standard of training it provides.
Our Traineeships are designed to provide a unique, all-round experience in a full time role (five out of seven days a week) of both a historic house and a working museum that receives 40,000 visitors a year.
The Wordsworth Trust is currently one of three partners in the Cumbria Museum Consortium (CMC), an Arts Council-funded initiative. For the Wordsworth Trust, this has led to a particular emphasis on education, outreach and work with young people.
The Education Trainee will gain experience in public facing roles such as delivering guided tours of Dove Cottage. They will also work with the Education Development Manager and Education Officer to deliver the Wordsworth Trust’s core schools offer to children from Foundation Stage to KS5. They will develop new school and outreach sessions, both onsite and offsite, including those delivering Arts Awards. They will also develop onsite trails and gallery interactives, and will deliver family activities both onsite and in Cumbrian libraries.
Fixed-term contract. The Traineeship will run for 11 months from the end of August.
