The British Library is seeking a freelance creative facilitator to lead the delivery of a project working with care experienced young people aged 16-24 in Leeds.
Working with social workers, a comic book artist (freelance, to be appointed) and a creative facilitator (to be appointed through this brief), care experienced young people from Leeds will explore their experiences of care through creative activities linked to comic book art styles and techniques. This will lead to the creation of a single comic book which will be shared with other young people and as a training tool for teachers, foster carers and other adults.
The project sessions will take place at the central Leeds venue (TBC). Each two-hour session (likely to be 18.00-20.00) will take place on a weekday evening. There will be 15 sessions in the spring and summer of 2025. Final dates will be confirmed on appointment of the facilitator, comic book artist, and selection of the venue. Around 10 young people will take part in the project, including three who are joining in advance to collaborate in project planning.
