Lecturer in Creative Writing (Creative Non-Fiction)
Deadline: Tue 24 Sep 2013
The University of Hull is a highly research active and delivers a substantial range of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels

The English Department is highly research active and delivers a substantial range of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels — not least of all, our joint undergraduate BA Hons Creative Writing and English programme. We are also proud to offer creative writing at MA and PhD levels, as optional modules as part of the English Literature honours programmes and as free electives in other departments.

The University is also well served by the Brynmor Jones Library, formerly led by Philip Larkin, and the newly launched History Centre, housing the University of Hull’s archive as well as those of the City. Both have proved invaluable resources in the teaching of creative non-fiction.

As Lecturer in Creative Writing you will be able to demonstrate your ability to publish creative writing and contribute to and enhance our research profile in Creative Writing. You will also make a significant contribution to the Creative Writing modules, including the convening and teaching of the first-year Facts Into Art Non-fiction modules, the Writing the Novel module and the MA modules Creative Non-fiction, Reading Like a Writer and Discovering Voices.

We would consider applications from candidates who may want to teach one or more of these modules on a part-time basis.

With a relevant PhD or equivalent, part of your role will involve supporting outreach, summer schools and admissions activities. If you have well developed research publications and plans, experience of teaching in higher education and the ability to work as well independently as with a team we would welcome your application.
