Northumbria University seeks to appoint a one-year fixed-term lecturer in Creative Writing, from September 2021.
The opportunity arises through the success of Dr. Elizabeth-Jane Burnett in winning a Leverhulme Fellowship for 2021-22.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong research portfolio in practice-based work with research and teaching expertise in poetry, alongside other aspects of Creative Writing. The appointee will work within the wider English and Creative Writing group in the Humanities Department and will bring excellent research and teaching experience.
The Humanities Department is focused strongly on excellence in research and teaching. Our Department brings together 80 academic staff and 800 students in American Studies, History, English Literature, English Language and Creative Writing. Our Literature and Creative Writing undergraduate degree, Creative Writing MA, and PhD programme in Creative Writing are well established.
The English and Creative Writing group develops its research within a vibrant interdisciplinary context that is underpinned by the Institute for the Humanities. The group’s research interests are wide-ranging and involve writing across genres including the novel and short fiction, memoir and creative non-fiction, drama, and poetry, including the verse novel.
