You will engage with the School’s culture of interdisciplinary research and research-led teaching and contribute to building upon our strengths in Creative Writing in the School of English.

The creative writing team in the School currently includes Simon Armitage as Professor of Poetry; Professor of Romantic Literature and poet John Whale; poet and BA English with Creative Writing Programme Leader Dr Kimberly Campanello; writer Karina Lickorish Quinn as Teaching Fellow; poet Zaffar Kunial as Douglas Caster Cultural Fellow, and Leverhulme Fellow and poet Rachel Bower.

Our BA English Literature with Creative Writing degree began in 2018 and a Masters in Creative Writing with Critical Life was launched in 2017. We also supervise practice-led PhDs.

The Leeds University Poetry Centre is based in the School and regularly welcomes guest readings from established and emerging poets. The School is home to two internationally-respected journals which feature creative writing: Stand magazine and Moving Worlds (creative writing and critical articles).
